Wyoming County Animal Shelter

Pineville, WV

ABOUT US

The Wyoming County Animal Shelter (WCAS) is funded by and operates under the guidance of Wyoming County Commissioners.

The Wyoming County Animal Shelter is located in Pineville, WV on the same property where the Wyoming County Landfill is located which is adjacent to the Kee Airport in Pineville, WV.

To get to the WCAS from Beckley, WV once in Pineville, WV, by going West 97, you can turn off on Airport Road which is a rough and narrow road and it will take you to the Kee Airport and the landfill. Once you get to the landfill, you will enter it and travel a little more distance to the Wyoming County Animal Shelter’s red, tin building. Another and a better route to the WCAS would be to go ahead and pass Airport Road , still staying on West 97 and turn off on Skin Fork Road and head to the Kee Airport.

The Wyoming County Animal Shelter is staffed by two humane officers, although at this time, Ray Farmer is caring for the complex and all the duties involved in operating a shelter by himself. Their duties although not limited to such are to pick up vicious, unwanted and stray dogs and cats, investigate animal abuse cases of domesticated animals, respond to questions or complaints of the citizens of Wyoming County, adoptions of animals, to do the daily task needed in caring and maintaining an animal shelter, euthanizing animals, etc.

The Wyoming County Animal Shelters hours are 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday except on holidays.

Due to the many responsibilities the Wyoming County Animal Shelter’s humane officers have to attend to, their continuous presences at the animal shelter is not possible. If you have an animal that needs to be dropped off at the animal shelter during their opening hours, at the back of their building they have a drop off station which you can place the animal in which will allow them to enter the edifice.

The Wyoming County Animal Shelter encourages the citizens of Wyoming County, although not limited to said county, to adopt their pets. To adopt a pet, please contact the shelter so an appointment can be set up for the said adoption.

The requirements for adopting a pet is that you will have to have the said pet vaccinated for rabies and if the said pet is a dog, dog tags must be purchased.

To contact the Wyoming County Animal Shelter concerning adopting of a pet, animal abuse, vicious or stray pets, etc. , please call 1-304-732-800. The Communication Department will take your message and relay it to the WCAS’s staff. The Wyoming County Animal Shelter Staff will respond to your message in an appropriate way as soon as possible.

The Wyoming County Animal Shelter would like to thank you for your support and is very appreciative to all who adopts the pets from their shelter. The staff would like you to spay and neuter your pets so there is not an over explosion of the pet population.
